Berrynarbor VC Primary School
Christian
Distinctiveness

Berrynarbor is a Church School. Our Federation vision prioritises nurturing children in the 'stream' to develop their confidence and compassion for others. This is in preparation for them to go out into  the 'ocean' where they are prepared to make a difference.  We consistently encourage the children to always be the 'best they can be'. Our whole school curriculum, including the wider curriculum, has been carefully and specifically designed to develop this vision. In addition we have designed a 'Life Curriculum' to support children in their emotional and social well-being. Our programme of study for Religious Education enables the children to develop an understanding of Christian Distinctiveness and other religions.

Each day includes a shared act of worship, led by staff, children or visitors to the school - please see our policy below for more information. We have links with The Diocese of Exeter and St Peter's Church in the village. Our children are regularly involved with the local community throughout the year.

Our rewards systems uphold and reinforce our vision and values. A green card system and weekly values certificate highlight to the children the importance of making good choices. We encourage children to develop their Christian character through our Fruits of the Spirit programme. Children are encouraged to grow in love, peace, kindness, patience, joy, faithfulness, goodness, gentleness and self control and show these in all aspects of school life. The passionate and dedicated Ethos and Vision Committee meet regularly to drive our school forward and help us achieve the best for all pupils!
