We follow a range of carefully selected schemes of work that are well suited to mixed-age classes and ensure continuity and progression across year groups. Early reading is taught through the Read Write Inc. phonics programme, providing children with a strong foundation in decoding skills. As pupils become fluent readers, they progress to the VIPERS approach to develop deeper comprehension and a broad range of reading skills.

In the Early Years and Key Stage 1, we prioritise the development of essential foundational skills. These strong early foundations enable pupils to confidently broaden and refine their writing skills as they progress into Key Stage 2.
